| Reverse DNSReverse DNS (rDNS) is a method of resolving an IP address into a domain name, just as the domain name system (DNS) resolves domain names into associated IP addresses. - How Cpanel Failover Works
Standard website hosting employs a single physical machine (server) to host multiple services, including web, email, database, FTP and others. The server itself then becomes a single point of failure (SPOF)meaning that if one service fails, it fails for all hosted sites. In addition the server also has limited capacity for traffic, that in practice can lead to problems for a busy website or for a website that is experiencing transient bursts in traffic.
cPanel Failover Hosting takes a different aooroach:
- Load Balancing across multiple server configurations - overall performance is greatly improved as multiple servers handle requests.
- Data Redundancy with RAID 10 (email, databases and HTML and PHP files) are mirrored in real time.
- If a server goes down failover software will route mirrored files to the next available server keeping a site online until the downed server is repaired
- Database queries are routed to specialized servers thereby improving overall performance and response times.
